You don't have to face your loss alone

For you after the death of a loved one

Losing a loved one

Bereavement and grief are a part of life that we all go through at some point.  It can bring  raw pain or a complete numbing of our emotions and any feeling in between.  If you are grieving, you don't have to face it alone, we care and are here to provide a listening ear to those who simply need someone to talk to.

The bereavement journey

The bereavement journey is a six-session programme of films and discussion; a place where you can process your loss along with others who have experienced bereavement.

The bereavement journey helps with all types of bereavement (at any time), the first 5 sessions cover general bereavement implications and the 6th session is optional, offering a Christian perspective to the faith questions often asked in loss.

If you are interested in participating in the journey please email us at shema@haveringchristianfellowship.org

Shema Bereavement Support  is a confidential service and anything that you share with us will not be shared beyond the Shema Bereavement Support team.

We take your privacy seriously.  We will only ask you for a first name (if you are happy to give this). This maintains confidentiality and enables you to remain anonymous.

We want to help you to explore your feelings about your situation and to help you make the decisions that are right for you.  We will ask you questions to help you do this, and to make sure we understand what you are telling us.

We want our focus to remain on empowering you to take the right action for yourself and on behalf of others.

We are always concerned about your health and safety and that of others. If you are at risk of being hurt by your own actions or by someone else, we will discuss with you the best way to keep yourself safe and empower you to take action.  If you describe a risk to others then we will explore with you the best way to ensure their protection.

If we identify a risk, we will plan with you a course of action to mitigate the risk, and signpost you to the most appropriate agency to help you with your needs.  We are not usually in a position to take action on your behalf.

If you start providing us with identifying information, or information that would require us to take action, we will make you aware of this.

About us
about_us

Shema Bereavement Support provides a safe place for you to express your feelings, concerns and thoughts without fear of judgement or rejection.

Shema is the Hebrew word for listen. It means to pay full attention.  This describes our heart for those who are grieving in our community.

We are not counsellors, but we can come alongside the grieving to support and encourage them in their dark times.  Our support group is made up of volunteers who have known the pain of loss at various stages of life.

Shema Bereavement Support is a ministry of Pulse (formerly Havering Christian Fellowship), but our service is available to everyone, of any faith or none.

If you would find comfort in receiving prayer we would be very happy to pray for you,  just ask.
